Australian Government welcomes overseas business people and encourages them to settle permanently in Australia and develop new business opportunities. The business visas are no longer based on points test system. As from the 1st March 2003, the new amendments were passed into the immigration legislation to introduce two - stage visa processing for business skills migrants.
Under the current migration law provisions, almost all business migrants are granted initially a provisional visa for four years.
After establishing successfully a business in Australia with the required level of business activity and maintaining the required level of investment in Australia, provisional visa holders are eligible to apply for permanent residence.
A direct permanent residence visa is available for high calibre business migrants sponsored by State / Territory Governments - known as the Business Talent visa.

Please, note that to be successful (in addition to other statutory requirements) the applicants must be less than 45 years of age (max.44 at the time of application lodgement), or max. 55 years where sponsorship is obtained, or if there are exceptional circumstances plus 55 years of age.
